Inbound Logistics are associated with the movement of purchased products. It is a value chain activity that involves closely working with the suppliers to get quality raw material and relevant services from them. Inbound logistics consist of receiving material from suppliers, storing them in the warehouse and distribute/allocate the material to the manufacturing process when required. It basically involves all the activities associated with ordering, acquiring, storage, and distribution of raw material or parts. For example, a manufacturing firm orders aluminum as a raw material, receive the batch, store it in its warehouse and finally disseminate the aluminum when the production of aluminum utensils start. All these activities come under inbound logistics.
