Setup Time Notes:

A facility can produce a variety of products. Different machines or different tools of the same machine can be used to produce different variety of products. These machines or equipment must be prepared before the production can start. The time taken to prepare an equipment, tools, fixtures etc. to start the actual production is called setup time. Setup time can also include the time for loading and unloading of the material and processed part respectively. In short, the total time required or taken to start the next batch of the products is setup time. Setup time is aimed to be reduced in order to improve the process efficiency.
