Process Cycle Efficiency Notes:

The major objective of quality improvement and control is to reduce variability in the processes that produce the products. By reduced variations, processes become stable and capable to produce the products that meet the required specifications. When non-conforming products are produced due to process variation, these defective products are either reworked or scrapped. Scrap is defined as the waste in the form of products whose quality cannot be improved while rework is the process of working on the products again to eliminate defects. Reduction in waste is the main aim of lean and six sigma systems. An important measure used in this system is process cycle efficiency. Process cycle efficiency is calculated by dividing value-added time by process cycle time where value added time is the time required to perform on a product that adds value to it.
