Product traceability refers to the ease of tracing a product or a component of a product back to its origin. The concept of product traceability also involves tracing the processes that are involved in the production of the process, from raw material to finished goods and even disposal of the product. A lot of benefits are achieved by product traceability. It improves the visibility of the supply chain (which involves activities from raw material to disposal). Quality control activities/system is improved by designing products that are easily traceable. Product traceability also reduces risks.
