Prototyping Definition:

Prototyping Notes:

A prototype is a sample of a design or a product as a whole which is used for testing purpose to determine if the design or the actual product will perform well, both technically and in the market. Prototypes can be physical or virtual. When computer-aided designs are used, a prototype can be tested through computer softwares for material properties etc. A physical prototype of a product can be introduced in the market to check customers' response. Through this type of prototyping, it can be determined if the customers will like and buy the product or no. A physical prototype can also be used to test for different property tests e.g. hardness, tensile strength tests etc.
