Matrix diagram is somewhat similar to quality function deployment (house of quality). The layout, applications and even the symbol used are similar for both. Matrix diagrams are very simple and easy and can be two, three or four dimensional. The steps in making a matrix diagram include selecting the dimensions/number of issues that are to be considered for the matrix, choosing the matrix that best suits the situation, and placing the appropriate symbols in the matrix. The symbols refer to high (9), medium (3) and low (1). The scores for each option is then added and decision is made accordingly.
