Recall Procedure Definition:

Recall Procedure Notes:

Product recall occurs when defective products are shipped to the customers. It is associated with consumer's risk which shows the risk involved with acceptance of a bad batch of products. When a defective batch reaches the market and the manufacturer realizes it either by itself or through constant customer complaints, all the products of that batch are recalled. Recall procedure is carried out when the defective products pose a serious threat to the users which can result in law suits or legal actions on the manufacturer. For example, Merck (a pharmaceutical company) recalled all the batches of their arthritis drug Vioxx from the market in 2004 after a clinical test proved that the drug increases the chances of heart attacks and failure.
