Superordinate Goals Notes:
In the area of project management, the concept of team development and management is very important. A team is a group of people working together to achieve a common goal or objective. It is important to understand that the goals associated with a team are common goals not the individual goals. These goals are termed as superordinate goals. Superordinate goals surpass the individual needs or objectives of team members and focus on achieving the goals of the team, which in turn fulfil the objectives of the overall organization/project. The leader of the team must be competent enough to make the team members understand the importance of superordinate goals and the team must made efforts in achieving these goals.
