With the increasing trend of quality management, firms sometimes compare its performance with the target firm based on quality. Quality measures help in quantifying quality related processes, results and outcomes, or issues. Quality measures include process capability index, reject rate, process performance measures etc. In addition, some other quality measures are scrap rate, percent defective, quality costs etc. For example, a telecom firm may compare its performance based on the number of calls dropped or response time for customer calls with the target firm. Considering quality measures for benchmarking is a good practice as organizations nowadays focus more on improvement in products and services quality.
