The concept of total quality management refers to the fact that overall organization is involved in quality activities. Horizontal deployment is a type of quality deployment in an organization which focuses on involving all the departments of the organization in quality related activities. An organization has different departments i.e. design, manufacturing, marketing, finance, human resource etc. I is important for quality management that these departments participate together for quality improvement. Quality is incorporated in the design stage. Manufacturing phase involves inspecting the quality at every stage. Quality is incorporated in human resource as well to achieve employee satisfaction while the finance department identifies the costs associated with quality.
