Engineering Analysis Definition:

  • Process of applying engineering concepts to the design of a product, including tests such as heat transfer analysis, stress analysis, or analysis of the dynamic behavior of the system being designed is called engineering analysis.

Managing Quality: Integrating the Supply Chain by S. Thomas Foster

Engineering Analysis Notes:

It is important to check the products being designed for any kind of issues which will result in bad performance of the product or sometimes, product failure. When a product is designed, if computer aided design system is used, it is usually tested at that early stage for different properties to identify any technical flaw in the design. The tests that can be performed on a product design under engineering analysis are stress analysis, hardness test, heat transfer calculations, reliability tests etc. For example, a manufacturer of an airplane part must perform engineering analysis and test the tensile strength, structural properties, load propensity etc. because a failed airplane part can put a lot of lives at risk.
