Japanese have contributed a lot in the field of quality. Some techniques of quality control and management are unique to Japanese. The concept of Lean production is one of those. While explaining lean production, two views are taken into account. The first view considers all the activities as waste which do not add value to the final product. The second view refers to the improvement in quality processes as a part of lean production. Combining the two views, it can be said that lean production is a technique which helps to optimize the production process through continuous improvement. Toyota Motors production system is the perfect example of lean production.
