In order to improve the operations and processes of an organization, the method of Five S's can be adopted. The Five S's were proposed by Japanese to clear up the work area in order to reduce the non-value added activities. The Five S's include Seiri: Clearing the workplace by removing any unnecessary items, Seiton: Organizing the workplace by neatly placing the necessary items, Seiso: Cleaning the job floor and equipment in use to avoid any issues that can be hidden below the dirt, Seiketsu: Standardizing the workplace in specific and work area in general that can involve color coding or labeling, and Shetsuke: Properly adopting the other 4 S's and monitoring for any deviations from them.
