Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) Definition:

Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) Notes:

While defining reliability, it is the chances/probability of failure of a product during its useful life. When calculating reliability, the product failure rate is considered. Mean time to failure is referred to as 1 / (failure rate). Graphically, it is shown by the area under the reliability function graph. Mean time to failure refers to the average time before the failure will occur. For example, if a product's useful life is 100 hours and there is a chance of 1% failure (reliability is 99%), using the defined formula for reliability the number of failures per hour would be 0.0001005. The mean time to failure (MTTF) would be 1 / 0.0001005 which gives the value of 9950.24 hours
