Managing Quality: Integrating the Supply Chain by S. Thomas Foster
Lean Six Sigma Notes:
Lean six sigma combines the techniques of lean manufacturing and six sigma in order to put efforts in improving quality. The process improvement is done by reducing wastes within the process or system, thus reducing variation. Lean Six Sigma sometimes considers the overall organization for improvement rather than a single process. With the reduction in defects/wastes, the organizational structure can also be altered by using lean Six Sigma. While considering the part of lean in lean Six Sigma, the tools of Kaizen, Kanban, line balancing, mistake proofing, 5 S system etc. are used. Moreover, tools to perform the Six Sigma function are DMAIC and Taguchi method.
