XY Matrix Notes:

In the measure phase of DMAIC process, the important factors or characteristics are measured. Different tools are used to fulfil the purpose. XY matrix is one of them XY matrix is a statistical tool that lists inputs (denoted as X) and outputs (denoted as Y) and compares them to analyze the relationship between the inputs and outputs. The outputs are provided with the importance weights (1-10). The relation between the X's (inputs) and Y's (outputs) is placed in the matrix on 1-10 scale. Each cell is multiplied by its weight and the products are summed horizontally which gives the ranks. The importance of the factors is based on the calculated ranks.
