Gauge R&R Notes:
In the measure phase of DMAIC process, the important characteristics of the product are measured. These measurements must be verified before proceeding forward. Measurement system analysis is used to check the consistency of the measurements. One of the common method of measurement system analysis is Gauge repeatability and reproducibility (Gauge R&R). To check the accuracy of the measurements, gauge R&R is used. It is basically a statistical tool which helps in determining the variation in measurement which is caused by either the measurement equipment/devices or the person taking the measurements. Some acceptance criteria are related to gauge R&R based on which the measurements are either accepted or rejected i.e. 10% (adequate), 10%-30% (acceptable), and over 30% (unacceptable).
