Core processes are a set of activities that transform raw material into finished product. Activities involved in the core processes are interdependent and interlinked. The input (raw material is put into the process, value is added to it and output (finished product) leaves the process. Core processes are crucial to an organization that must be performed well to keep the organization competitive. For example, different parts of an automobile enter the system as input. Assembly of these parts is done which adds value to the product for the customers and an assembled automobile exits the system as output. The assembly process in this example is the core process which is a value added activity.
