Supplier Qualification Notes:
The new concept of quality management involves the complete supply chain. The first step of supply chain is the upstream activities that are related to the interaction and communication with the suppliers. The relationship with the suppliers is very important as the quality of a product is mainly affected by the quality of the raw material. To ensure the quality of the raw material, it is necessary to know that the suppliers of the business are trust worthy in terms of material quality. To select a good supplier, supplier qualification is taken into account. It involves evaluating the suppliers based on a pre-defined criteria e.g. conformance to specifications, cost, reliability etc. Those suppliers who meet the pre-defined criteria are selected.
