Market share of a firm determines the position of an organization in the target market. It is an important indicator of an organization's success as it indicates how much market (in percentage) is captured by the organization. Due to globalization, it is important for a firm to know about its market share and compare it with the market leaders to find areas of improvement in capturing more market. Organizations may be selling different line of products or may be operations in different countries, so the market share might be distributed among different markets. For example, the global market share of Samsung in the second quarter of 2019 is 22.7%.
