Variable Notes:
A variable is something that can be quantified. It is basically a characteristic that can be shown by numbers. Examples of variables include height, weight, size, depth, width, temperature etc. In quality, variables are the quantifiable characteristics of a product e.g. diameter of a rod, screen size of a laptop, weight of a mobile phone etc. In statistical quality control, when the diameter of a rod is compared with the set specification limit, a variable (diameter) is taken into consideration. Variable data in quality control is continuous. Variables can be measured and compared easily.
