Available Time Notes:
An important type of data or information that can be collected through value stream mapping is available time. As the name indicates, available time is the total time that can be used in a day to work on products/perform facility operations. Available time includes both, the productive time and the non-productive or idle time. Productive time refers to the time when work is performed on the product. Non-productive time is the time when no useful work is being performed. Adding productive and idle time gives available time. For example, if a facility works for an 8-hours shift, the available time in a day would be 8 hours.
