Management review identifies the points in the project when the project manager and relevant stakeholders will review the project progress to determine if performance is as expected, or if preventive or corrective actions are necessary.

It is not a good practice to check the performance of the project after its completion to see if the project went well or not. Good project management requires to monitor the project's performance throughout the project life cycle so that the issues can be resolved and changes can be incorporated on time. For this reason, management reviews from time to time are necessary. Management review involves the meeting of stakeholders of the project to check the project's progress at a specific point in the project life cycle. Management reviews normally take place after a particular project phase is completed. During management reviews, the deflection of the project from the plan is identified. Also the need of corrective or preventive actions is determined in the management reviews.
