Statistical Sampling Notes:
Sometimes, the number of products produced are very high and not all of them can be inspected. In this case, a small group of products is selected for inspection. This is called statistical sampling. Statistical sampling involves selecting a subset of products from the overall population. The characteristics of the sample is generalized for the whole population. There are different types of statistical sampling techniques that include random sampling, stratified sampling, cluster sampling etc. Statistical sampling is used in project management's "Control Quality" process. Normally, random statistical sampling is used by project managers during the project. Statistical sampling is used to measure and verify quality of the deliverables and the frequency of the sampling must be documented.
