The human resource of the project is assigned with different tasks and responsibilities. These responsibilities and roles must be represented in a clear way. Different techniques can be used for this reason. Most understandable among all is to develop hierarchy. A hierarchy gives a very clear understanding of the relationships. A common hierarchical structure used in resource management is called organizational breakdown structure. An organizational breakdown structure shows all the functional units, departments or teams involved in the project. The project activities that come under each department or team is then listed. The individuals responsible for each activity or work package is sometimes also listed in the organizational breakdown structure. Organizational breakdown structure also helps to determine the reporting structure of the project.
