For this reason, a concept of Design for X (DfX) has been introduced. Design for X involve a set of guidelines that enables a product designer to optimize technical aspects of the product at the design phase so that the final product is of good quality. Design for X aids in improving and controlling the characteristics of the product. The 'X' in Design for X relates the various technical aspects of the product that may include reliability, safety, use, manufacturing, assembly etc. It helps in reducing the product cost and customer satisfaction as quality increases.
