Adenine Arabinoside also known as Vidarabine is an antibiotic or an antiviral agent that is extracted from Streptomyces antibioticus and is used to treat encephalitis and keratitis by HSV i.e. herpes simplex virus. Moreover, it can also act against infections caused by vaccinia and varicella zoster viruses as vidarabine has broad-spectrum activity against many such DNA viruses.
