Linked genes Definition:
Genes located near each other on the same chromosome tend to be inherited together in genetic crosses; such genes are said to be genetically linked and are called linked genes.

Linked genes Notes:
Linked genes are genes that are likely to be inherited together because they are physically close to one another on the same chromosome. During meiosis, chromosomes are recombined, resulting in gene swaps between homologous chromosomes. Linkage can provide important insights in to different diseases that are caused by genes that are linked to other genes. So by studying the linked genes, we can understand the inheritance pattern of disease genes.
