Aneuploidy Notes:

Aneuploidy is the presence of an abnormal number of chromosomes in a cell, for example a human cell having more than the normal 46 chromosomes in their nucleus. Aneuploidy is the result of non disjunction of the chromosomes during mitotic or meiotic division chromosomes. An important example of this is the down syndrome which results from trisomy in the 21st chromosome when the chromosomes fail to separate and it results in the daughter cell having 2 copies of the chromosome instead of 1.
