Cri du chat syndrome Notes:
Cri du chat syndrome is a chromosomal disorder in which there is a deletion of the small arm of chromosome number 5. It is also called cat cry syndrome and is a genetic condition present from birth. Its is called cri du chat because the Infants with this condition often have a high-pitched cry that sounds like that of a crying cat. The disorder is characterized by intellectual disability and delayed development, low birth weight, weak muscle tone in infancy, small head size and distinctive facial features. Although this condition is genetic however most cases are not inherited.
