Virus Definition:
A virus is little more than DNA (or sometimes RNA) enclosed by a protective coat, which is often simply protein. To produce more viruses, a virus must infect a cell and take over the cell's metabolic machinery.

Virus are small particles composed of genetic material which is either DNA or RNA and is covered by a protein coat. Viruses are not considered living entities because they cannot survive outside a host. They need host machinery and proteins to translate their own genetic material. Many deadly disease are caused by viruses that can be invariably fatal in humans and animals alike. For example dengue hemorrhagic fever is caused by dengue virus and it can be fatal if not treated early.
