Transformation Notes:
Transformation is the genetic change of a cell resulting from the direct uptake and incorporation of exogenous genetic material from its surroundings through the cell membrane. Or it maybe the changes in the genetic material of the cell which can have several different effects, one of which is acquiring the ability to grow uncontrollably and resulting in a formation of tumorous mass.

A cell is said to have been transformed when a foreign DNA incorporates itself in the cell. This may happen through viral or bacterial infection too. Transformation is the genetic alteration of a cell resulting from the direct uptake and incorporation of exogenous genetic material from its surroundings through the cell membrane. This can lead to foreign proteins being made in the cell or the cell dividing uncontrollably etc.

Transformation is the genetic alteration of a cell resulting from the direct uptake and incorporation of exogenous genetic material from its surroundings through the cell membrane. For transformation to take place, the recipient bacteria must be in a state of competence, which might occur in nature as a time-limited response to environmental conditions such as starvation and cell density, and may also be induced in a laboratory.
