Colilert Defined Substrate Test Notes:
The colilert test uses Defined Substrate Technology (DST) to detect E.coli and total coliforms simultaneously. MUG and ONPG, which are the two nutrient indicators, are the biggest sources of carbon in colilert and can be broken down by β-galactosidase (coliform enzyme) and β-glucuronidase (E.coli enzyme).
