The organisms, that derive their energy from the oxidation of the electron donors in their environment, are called Chemotrophs. These molecules can be either organic or inorganic. They are contrary to the phototrophs, which derive their energy from the sunlight. Chemotrophs can be either heterotrophic or autotrophic organisms.
