Cocci Notes:
Cocci is the plural for Coccus, which is a term used for a bacterium or archaeon that is ovoid, spherical or round in shape. It is a group of bacteria classified on the basis of their shape (one of the three distinct bacterial shapes, the remaining two are bacillus and spiral shaped). An example is the pyogenic cocci, which cause various pus-producing infections in animals.
