Statistics is divided into two classes. One of them is called inferential statistics. Inferential statistics is used to analyze data and draw conclusions based on that analysis. There are two techniques used in inferential statistics. One of the techniques is hypothesis testing. Generally, hypothesis is a statement that is supposed on some evidence which must be tested for truth. A statistical hypothesis is a statement regarding probability distribution parameters that are supposed to be tested on the basis of a data set of random variables. There are two types of statistical hypothesis; null hypothesis which is based on the observations and alternative hypothesis that is the opposite of null hypothesis.
