Pareto Chart Notes:
A Pareto chart is based on Pareto law also called 80/20 rule. It helps in prioritizing the problems. As Pareto law states that 80% of the problems are created due to 20% causes. These percentages are only to understand the concept of Pareto law however, actual percentages for problems and causes can vary from situation to situation. Pareto charts are developed considering the problems and their frequencies. While developing Pareto chart, quality data is gathered categorically. Then a frequency chart for the data is developed. The height of the bars indicates which problem has the highest impact on quality. That problem is to be solved first.
