Simulation is usually performed for process optimization. One of the type of simulation is called discrete event simulation. Discrete event simulation uses a computer model of a process and determine the effect of changes in the process on its performance. Discrete event simulation helps to predict the performance of a process under different nature of events. This type of simulation provides a model of the system or process as a sequence of discrete events in a specific time period.
