Out of Control Action Plan Notes:

In statistical process control, the most commonly used tool is control charts. Control charts help to identify the variations in the process which affect the product quality. Once the variations are detected, corrective actions must be taken to reduce the variation in the process. While using control charts, a necessary part of corrective action is out of control action plan (OCAP). As the name indicates, out of control action plan is developed when some of the points in the control chart go out of control. Out of control action plan can either be a flow chart or a written description of the activities and their sequence that must be performed when an activating event occurs (trigger). The out of control action plan typically involves check points, causes of variations, and the methods of termination.
