Robust Design Definition:

Robust Design Notes:

It is must that a project contains risks. These risks must be identified and monitored in order to control them. To control risks, the likelihood of occurrence and the effect of the risks on the project should be identified and reduced and control actions must be taken. One of the control actions is called robust design. Robust design relate to the advance design and manufacturing methods which help to improve quality as early as in the design phase. The term robust designed was coined by Taguchi. According to robust design, the product should be unaffected by variations in the process. Robust design involves three steps. The first step is concept design (the evaluation of different process designs and technologies and the selection of the best among them). The second step is parameter design (studying parameter/factors associated with the process, their selection and optimal levels). The third and final step of the method is tolerance design (setting specification limits for the products).
