Requirements Traceability Matrix Notes:
The first step of a project is to determine the requirements set by the customer. The requirements must be met at the end of the project. It is important to trace the requirements during the project to know if the project is able to fulfill the requirements or not. Each deliverable of the project is associated with one or more requirements. To check whether the deliverables are fulfilling the customer's requirements, a tool called requirements traceability matrix is used. A requirements traceability matrix is a grid that links the requirements with the associated deliverables that fulfill them. This matrix ensures that the fulfilled requirements not only satisfy customers but also add value to the contractor's business when they are linked to the business objectives. When the requirements are tracked through-out the project life cycle using requirements traceability matrix, it can help to manage changes required in the product scope.
