A program is basically a combination of different projects that are to be managed properly. A program plan must be developed to effectively carryout a program and its associated activities. A program plan is an important aspect of a successful project. It is a set of guidelines that can be followed throughout the life of the program. Depending upon the size and complexity of the program, the participation or involvement of the organization's employees vary. A program plan outlines issues between the functional managers and functional managers and program managers, inconsistencies in the program and individual projects, the problems and risks associated with the program and the recommended corrective actions, scheduling etc.
