Competency Model Notes:
Traditionally, the project manager for a project is selected based on the job description. Job description shows the expectations in relation to the responsibilities from the project manager that he/she must fulfill. The new concept of competency models is recently introduced. Competency models show the set of skills needed to perform the job, achieve the deliverables or successful completion of the project. The three broad classes of competencies expected of the project manager are technical skills, leadership skills and process skills. By using competency models, organizations easily develop the overall project management program rather than developing a single course. Competency models can help to increase the efficiency of the project manager and makes him/her time effective.
