Abortive Transcripts Definition:

  • Very short transcripts (about 6 nt long) synthesized at prokaryotic promoters before promoter clearance. occurs..

Abortive Transcripts Notes:

Abortive transcripts are short RNA transcripts, about 6 nt long, that are produced at prokaryotic promoters. The release of such transcripts has been observed, in nearly all in vitro transcription, using different RNA polymerases(1-3). The maximum size, however, is different among different RNA polymerases.
