Poka Yoke Notes:
Poka yoke is a Japanese term which means fail-safing. It is a mechanism that helps prevent any errors or mistakes in a process. The term is widely used in quality control as it helps to eliminate any defects in a product by preventing and rectifying the mistakes. The concept behind this mechanism ensures that the mistakes never happen again. It means that the processes are designed not to fail. Some methods for fail-safing are visual methods, warning methods, fixed-value method, motion-step, physical contact method and three T's. The three T's include the performed tasks, treatment and tangibles provided to the customers. The general idea of Poka-yoke is to identify the possible errors, and fail-safe them so that they never occur again.
