Efforts have been made by the organizations to integrate upstream activities (which also includes suppliers) with the quality control. Making the supplier feel a part of the organization and monitor supplier's performance is crucial to the quality management of the firm itself. A supplier relationship management system should have the capability to identify the optimal sources of material and equipment, develop a supplier base, evaluate suppliers' performance and prioritize them accordingly, assure material's quality, consider appropriate levels of supply, and ensure spend transparency etc.
