Demerit System Notes:
A produced product can have many different types of defects. Based on these defects, the product is called non-conforming or defective. However, some of the defects are of less importance than the others. Products with less important defects can still be fit to use. Moreover, some types of defects do not make the product non-conforming. Due to this reason, demerit system can be used to classify and categorize the defects and their severity. There are four common classes of defects categorized by the demerit system. Class A defects that are very serious in nature, can cause serious harm to the user, and the products with these defects are unfit to use.
