Introduction to Statistical Quality Control by Douglas C. Montgomery

Conformance Notes:

Out of all the product quality dimensions, conformance is the most traditional one. For a product, certain numerical dimensions are specified e.g. diameter, length, thickness, capacity etc. These dimensions are called specifications. When a product is produced, it is expected that it will meet the set specifications within the allowed tolerance range. If the product produced meet the specifications, it is said that the product conforms. For example, the set specification for a rod is 3 cm ± 0.5 cm diameter and the product produced is of 3.2 cm diameter, it can be said that the product conforms to the specifications.
