Based on the size, complexity and involved people, projects can be categorized into four classes. One of the category is special projects. Special projects involve people from different units of the organization. People from different units may work together to achieve the objective of a special project. The authority is transferred temporarily to other unit/units. This means that the staff of one organizational unit working under the unit's boss may report to the boss of another unit when involved in special projects. In short, the reporting authority changes. Communication gaps may occur in special projects as the team members may not get comfortable with the new boss easily.
