Resource Smoothing Notes:

A project can need more resources than available. This means that the resources are limited for a particular project.Limited resources must be utilized effectively so that the project can be successfully completed. The process of effective use of resources is called resource utilization. Different resource optimization techniques are used in project management to balance the demand and supply of the resources. One technique is called resource smoothing. Resource smoothing is a process that tends to adjust the project activities so that the required resources does not exceed the already defined limit of the resources. The resource smoothing technique does not affect the critical path of the project. Although, it adjusts the activities but the project activities are only delayed according to the available slack. Resource smoothing, sometimes, fail to optimize all the project resources.
